I’ve been fascinated by gambling and more specifically casino gambling since I watched the gangster movie Casino as a teenager.
While there were definitely some aspects to the film that I wanted NOT part of, the other parts evoked something in my imagination.
After all, owning a casino is basically a license to print money. Right? So by this logic, every casino that is dressed in the 9th century, with Bourbon in hand and a mountain of chips in front of them, must be the pinnacle of luxury.
It was about 2 hours on my first casino trip, I had this overwhelming insight into how unfortunately I was unprepared.
How could this happen in the world?
It happened because I had no idea what I was doing or how the games even worked. I never want a first timer or any beginner to have the experience of me 2 decades ago. So I’m here to help. To understand how casino games work, we need to be familiar with different types of games.
Table games are in any casino. Dealers who pay bets, players squirm, dice, and cards are dealt. Spending time on the casino floor with high stakes table games is an experience you are sure to remember.
Baccarat is perhaps the lesser known or understood board game among the four pillars of casinos. When you understand how hand values are formulated, you will notice that the riddle of the Baccarat strategy has been removed. Baccarat then becomes one of the most open casino games.
I will give you a little in advance, “Baccarat” comes from old European dialects and means “zero”. So think of baccarat by playing “zero”.
We call it zero because face cards and 10s, which are usually worth 10, become worth 0 in Baccarat. At the same time, the number cards are face value and the aces are worth one.
In the case of Baccarat, the goal is to predict whether the banker or player will have a better score. You can also bet on a draw if both hands win the same draw.
Roulette is perhaps the best known and most straightforward casino table game. Roulette comes to us from the French word “little bike”.
There are numerous bets available to the player, so many have actually written hundreds of articles on just this topic. So, let’s stick to the basic game.
Roulette starts with players’ bets. The dealer then throws the ball to the roulette wheel, and players can continue betting. When the ball is still in motion, the dealer announces “no more bets” and the bet is over. When the ball is at rest, winning bets are placed and the next round begins.
If you’re looking for fun and some real comrades have hit the craps table. Standing around a table, a sling around five pairs, betting and rolling dice together bring together my favorite casinos.
Craps may be the most complex table game in a casino, but it doesn’t have to be scary. Let’s bring up some basics and you’re at home rubbing your elbow with avid players.
Skip or ignore?
Skip the side bets for now and focus on the main game. This is the “Pass Line” or “Don’t Pass” line. Pass Line bets are on the shooter to win.
So if the shooter throws a 7 or 11, the bet wins. If the draw is 2, 3 or 12, the bet is lost. If there is another number coming that becomes a dot. The shooter then tries to hit that point before throwing a 7. If a player throws a 7 before it hits a point, he “seven out” and the bet loses.
The “Don’t care” bet works essentially in parallel with the “Pass Line” bet. Again, the “Don’t Care” bet is a bet against the shooter.
“Don’t care” bets win if the roll is 2 or 3 and the bet is pushed if 12 is rolled. A score of 7 or 11 is a loser. If another number is thrown, it determines the point and if 7 is thrown before the point hits, the bet pays
This is an abbreviated overview, but it will give you a foundation on how craps works. You can definitely pick up the rest from the table.
Whatever you remember about this; never say a word seven on the table. And when you roll the dice, make sure the dice hit the back wall.
Blackjack is my casino game. You don’t have to be as uniquely intelligent as Raymond Babbit to enjoy it to the fullest. missingajack gained tremendous popularity in part by being incredibly easy to learn. Both experienced and novice gamblers don’t seem to get enough real money in the fast-paced action of blackjack.
The object of the game is to reach 21 without going before the dealer hits 17. If you don’t drop, and the total is higher than the dealer’s winnings. Beating 21 or blackjack usually means even bigger wins.
